De Vijverberg
Stadium de Vijverberg is the home base of football club De Graafschap and was built in 1954. The construction was in a hurry, because the club had just been founded to play in the professional football competition of the NBVB. The stadium would be built on a field located on the Vijverlaan, and was made available by the local cattle dealer Bart Wentink. The stadium was given the same name as the hotel that once stood on the same site. The hotel was called De Vijverberg at the time because a number of ponds had to be filled in for the construction of the hotel and a small ‘mountain’ was created.
